The main factor determining the success of urban management today is recognized cities and aimed at policy and implementation plans. Cities are as a complex social system and the need for urban management to achieve the goals of sustainable urban development activities in different dimensions. In this paper, we examine how knowledge, evolution and expression levels of urban management in the different periods of the current situation, strengths and weaknesses (advantages and disadvantages) have been analyzed. Using descriptive and (library studies), analysis of secondary data (documents) and the techniques of content analysis and comparative study between traditional and new approaches to urban management of the Median era (780 BC) to the Republic Islamic of Iran Period (until 2012) will be discussed. The results show the influence of Iran in the planning and management of urban management center . In the current era of urban management at the macro level, local and regional, local and urban management levels with parallel changes in the decision making and planning. Therefore, the development of municipal functions and powers of the management with decentralization and urban development is essential. The strategic and operational recommendations for the efficient management of municipal (local government) and the development of decentralized urban management are provided. Given the strengths of the (municipal council's elections since 2008 / participation and involvement in the affairs of the people and politics of decentralization in the country) and the perspectives of modern urban management (electronic and intelligent management) has been done.
