Abstract

The study aims to explore and explain the role of the environment as a platform for all human activities, focusing on its impact on citizens' health and the importance of urban management and national governance in promoting sustainable development by creating a healthy environment and fostering healthy citizens. This research is categorized as basic-applied, utilizing a descriptive-analytical and survey method, and collecting data through questionnaires and the author's field observations. The statistical population consists of 1,000 heads of households in one area of Qom city.

The study's findings, analyzed using SPSS and LISREL tools, reveal that 25% of the region's residents suffer from health issues related to environmental factors. While this percentage may seem alarming (one out of every four individuals), it highlights the lack of information, poor awareness, neglect, or disregard for environmental elements that influence public health. Issues such as insufficient knowledge of citizens' rights, a lack of engagement with urban demands, and a limited understanding of urban health regulations and policies contribute to the problem.

The research also underscores the significant influence of environmental, visual, and physical factors on the physical, mental, and social health of citizens. It emphasizes the necessity of incorporating urban health considerations into urban planning more comprehensively. This integration of environmental indicators—spanning mental, social, and physical health—into urban and regional management reflects an innovative approach with substantial implications at both micro and macro levels. The results demonstrate the importance of considering these factors to improve the well-being of citizens in urban areas.
