Abstract
Shared cities are emerging as an alternative narrative and promote sharing as a transformative phenomenon to create fair and sustainable cities. Accordingly, the purpose of the research is to formulate the conceptual framework of the city as an alternative to the smart city. The present study is developmental. The research method is qualitative and based on a comprehensive method. The statistical society consists of articles, books, theses, and the dissertations of the city shared. The time is from 2010 to 2024. The scientific bases of Elsevier, Sepringer, Sage, Amrud, Taylor and Francis have been used. The sample size consists of 31 sources that are selected using purposeful sampling method. Based on the findings, there are 154 open codes, 9 selective codes, and 47 axial codes regarding the shared city. Finally, the average density coefficient of 3.43 and the abstraction ratio of 154 to 9 prove the theoretical saturation, validity, and explanatory power of the conceptual framework as an alternative for the smart city and indicate the methodological validity of the research. The research results explain the differences between smart cities and shared cities in six analytical layers, including ontology, governance, analytical scale, consequences, implementation process, and pathology. This proves the transition from technology-centric and technocratic governance of smart cities to human-centric and facilitative governance of shared cities and supports the claim of being an alternative
