Rural Women Vulnerability Case: Foumenat foot mountain villages

Abstract

Vulnerability is a condition which make people sensitive, weak, and defenseless against various physical and social risks, concerning to environmental &geographical position, social forces, institutes and cultural values.
 
Documents show that women are more vulnerable in rural communities. The main aims of this research are considering and analyzing rural women vulnerability position, its responsible factors and consequences.
 
Foot mountain villages of Foumenat are the study area of this research located in Guilan. Data was collected via observation, field study, filling questionnaire in selected sample villages & some available documents.
 
Collected data was analyzed by means of descriptive and explanatory statistics, and quantitative relation between variables (T-student, wilcoxon Test & likert method).
 
Finding show that dwellers of study area are faced with various environmental, social and economic vulnerabilities. People are uneducated, they have no special skills, protection foundations and requiems, therefore can not conform themselves with natural disasters, but transform it to social and economic vulnerabilities. In this human and political ecology, women experiences more social and economic vulnerability.
