Urban sprawl or uncontrolled dispersion of built-up areas imposes many economic, social, and environmental issues to cities with a high growth rate. The combination of Remote Sensing and GIS. Technologies with the Shannon Entropy Model can used to identify, quantify and analyze the trends of urban sprawl patterns. In this research, Landsat satellite imagery, spatial analysis of GIS and Shannon entropy used in two levels (for the whole city and within urban areas) in Tabriz city. After geometric and radiometric correction of images and the mapping of urban and non-urban areas in four periods from 1972 to 2013, to calculate the total entropy of each period, the region divided into 58 cells. In addition, to create a spatial pattern map and visualize urban sprawl, the whole city divided into 100 cells with 16 sub-cells, the amount of entropy of 16 cells was calculated, and sprawl spatial pattern obtained by Kriging interpolation method. The results of this study showed that urban sprawl of Tabriz has been approaching the maximum entropy (4.06) from 1972 to 2013 and has caused a two-fold gap between the growth of urban areas and the population. In addition, the spatial pattern of urban sprawl is unbalanced and focuses on the city’s communication axes.

Tehran as the largest city in Iran, is one of the most polluted cities in the world, so necessity of accurate detection of contaminants and identifying contaminated areas for reducing their severity is obvious. The aim of this research was prepared Tehran air pollution map and determining the areas with the highest polluted. For studying air pollution situation in Tehran, after gathering concentration of 5 main Atmospheric pollutants (CO, NOx، SOx، O3، PM25) from 20 air pollutant recorder station, three Interpolation methods in ArcGIS software include: Kriging, radial basis function RBF and inverse distance weighted IWD have been used. In Additon, for comparing methods and selecting the best of them, root- mean- square error RMSE and the correlation coefficient R2 had been used. It determined that in most of parameters IDW had better accuracy for zoning pollution of the area by checking the RMSE values. For achieving results with using mentioned methods, map of air quality limits in the area was ready and by combining five maps and weighing them into each parameter, general pollution map of the area was prepared. Results showed that in Monoxide carbon pollution zoning map, most of the pollution was related to the unhealthy class, in Nitrogen Oxide and Ozone was related to very unhealthy class and in particle matter and sulfur oxide was related to unhealthy class. In final map also most portion was related to unhealthy class. Overlay Masudieh station with 1091 pollution weight had the most pollutants and dangerous weather conditions and Darrus station with 628 pollution weight had better position.

The optimal distribution of uses as well as service centers is an issue which urban planners often emphasize, as the rapid growth of population and city expansion has caused an inappropriate spatial distribution of urban uses. Cultural centers are an example of the uses whose distribution and dispersion are important in urban areas in terms of both urban development and social justice. The purpose of this study is to analyze the dispersion of the cultural centers in Saqqez city as well as to locate the new cultural centers according to the shortage in the city. The research method is descriptive-analytical. In order to classify and analyze the data, some models including ANP model and network analysis model, and Moran'sI, Anselin local Moran'sI indicators were used. Furthermore, the softwares ARC /GIS, and Super Decisions were employed to map layers. The results of this study indicates that according to the survey carried out, %41.11 of the city area is out of access to the cultural centers. The findings also reveal that the cultural centers in Saqqez city are inappropriate to other centers in terms of both compatibility and accessibility. Therefore, by integrating the various layers of influential uses, the final map of optimal spaces was suggested in order to build new cultural centers in 5 categories from very good to very weak

One of the essential functions in geografialy urban studies by using of spatial and temporal data is urban growth analysis. In this context, urban horizontal expansion can be measured by statistical indicator. The main objective of this article is monitoring of growth of 9 urban areas, quantifying the degree of urban free growth, the degree of uncontrolled urban expansion, and the benefits of urban growth for a period of years 85-91, in the Shiraz city. To achieve this goal, the K-Score Pearson test is used for measuring the degree of city expansion, and Shannon Entropy is used for the degree of city sprawl, and finally the degree of urban growth was surveyed. These dimensions were measured for both the period of 85-91 and 9areas of Shiraz. Results show that the degree of freedom for a period of time is high. In the period of 88-89 observed growth of construction was less than expected. In area 1 the observed growth is equal to the expected growth. By considering the whole city, the general Shannon Entropy also shows concentration. In the end, the analysis of city benefits indicates that Shiraz has experienced a favorable positive city growth in all regions.

Increasing development of urban and population growth in theirs have been made the production of species municipal wastes, nowadays state of propulsion of these wastes, has become a major concern in the urban environment sustainable development. On the other hand, the problem of finding a suitable landfill due to multiple risk factors involved in this always has been including issues complex, high cost and time. This study aimed to determine the appropriate landfill sites in urban areas using GIS tools and functionality Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) has been implemented. In this paper, various factors such as distance from river line distance from fault, slope percent, type of land use and distance from the main road that are useful to the landfill site selection, had been considered in confine of Mahallat city. Then, for paired comparisons of dependent criteria and parameters were used from the knowledge of 100 experts in various fields, including environmental, government, natural resource and county municipality organizations in the form of questionnaires. After account and performance of the final weights on each of layers in GIS, modeling was performed in the form of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Finally appropriate arenas of urban landfill sites based on availability of site pitch in the form of 5 stories from very well to very poor identified and were checked with field observations and the southeastern of Mahallat city was evaluated by area suitable for burial of urban waste.

Historical and cultural contexts of cities great monuments of culture, native architecture and urban planning and considered as part of the social identity of each nation and country. Historic- cultural cities based on historic and hereditary resources have many opportunities for tourists; therefore, they are the main centers of attracting tourists. Shiraz metropolitan with rich cultural- historical backgrounds and possesses historical landscapes has high potential to attract domestic and foreign tourists. However this city can’t use so much from this industry as a source of income. Several factors are involved in this issue, disproportion land uses around the collection of Zandieh that have world-renowned, can including these factors. It is seem to be the main causes for this incompatibility, for good performance of this landuses, with locating Incompatible landuses within radius of Zandieh series use the agglomeration of population in this part of city and they were neglected from being incompatibile of this landuses with series of Zandiyeh artefacts . This study was done with aims to assess appropriateness of land uses in old contexts of Shiraz with an emphasis on the Zandieh collection which according to the nature of research used descriptive - analytical method. Results indicate that the land uses around this monuments haven’t good appropriateness which with giving help from GIS can provide suitable condition for analyzing current situation of land uses around Zandieh collection.

In recent decades due to growing prices of fossil fuels and environmental pollution as a result of increased energy demand in renewable energy research and study has been considered by researchers. Resource constraints and environmental investments in the electricity sector, including key issues that will affect the process to minimize cost and environmental impact has always been regarded experts. Environmental protection and energy security of the electricity produced by power plants solar power acts emphasized. Iran has a warm climate is semiarid due to the special geographical location and orientation on the radiation belts and desert, The more central parts of the country, especially those are with a clear sky. This increase in sunshine hours and radiation from these regions than in other parts of the world. Therefore study in the construction and deployment of solar sites in the regions of the country can achieve clean energy for residents. This paper uses the capabilities of GIS and models to predict the overall radiation, sunshine hours and the amount of radiant energy receivedin Ardekan township villages. Calculated for each of the months and years, where 7/ 7hours sunny day and average 5/3 solar radiation of more than kilowatt hours per square meter per day were suitable for solar construction sites were identified. And for embedding solar panels priority direction is south and southwest in this place, respectively.

AbstractOne of the important and new dimensions in sustainable development tourism is ecotourism that have root in sustainable development theory and has formed in front of mass tourism that has environmental undesirable affect and become beyond of natural based tourism. Thus, it could not be called ecotourism the trip and travel in nature, without attention to sustainable development attributes. Because, ecotourism have a deep and strong relation with environment protect. On this basis, determine the accurate spatial extent and location potential of ecotourism, is the one of most important stages in ecotourism planning and management that with considering to ecological index of ecotourism is possible. This issue, especially in geographical territories such as Tehran province, that have a high supply and demand in ecotourism, is necessary. So, the purpose of this study is using of multi criteria decision making analysis, TOPSIS in arc GIS space, to zoning and prioritization the ecotourism potential of Tehran province territory. To achieve this goal, used of descriptive and analytical methodology, based on documents and library studies and combined multi-criteria analysis of spatial data. The result of study in the case study region, indicate that there are 5 main zoon in relate to ecotourism potential that high score areas are adopted with protected region and the main area with potential for ecotourism is located in the northern of Tehran province, among folds of Alborz.
