This research presents an integration of fuzzy logic with GIS for landfill site selection in Durood city alongside with the customized GIS application for doing this study. One of the most important issues of sanitary landfill is to identify suitable locations. Landfill selection in an area is a critical issue in the decision making process because of its great impact on the economy, ecology and the environmental health of the region. most common sub-criteria, documented in literature and implicated (IEPO) including surface water, ground water, land use, distance to well, soil type, slope, protected area, fault in environmental group, residential area, road, airport, village, infrastructure, historical area, wind direction in socioeconomical group were selected and the weight of each criterion was determined based on expert’s knowledge with use of analytical hierarchy process (AHP). At the first step, in order to find the suitable sites, GIS digital map overlay techniques were used (customized GIS application). The second step was a fuzzy logic approach that the system ranked sites on a scale of 0–100%, with 100% being the most appropriate one. At the third step the potential sites that were selected from the last step will be ranked by Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) in order to prioritize the potential sites. Field observations also confirmed suitability of the selected sites, and hence this method can be used in urban areas for waste dumping site selection procedure. Selected sites are considered to be suitable for landfill to minimize environmental risk and human health problems.

The purpose of this study is to reveal the physical expansion and spatial changes of heat islands in Minab city during three time periods (1975-1988, 1988-2000, and 2000-2014). For this purpose, TM and OLI images of Landsat satellite were used. The physical changes of the city were obtained by analyzing the values extracted from the two indices of normalized difference built (NDBI) and normalized difference vegetation (NDVI). To find heat islands of the city, single-channel and separate-window algorithms and to investigate the contribution of population growth and urban horizontal growth on changes in heat islands, Shannon and Holdren entropy models were used. The results showed that the maximum amount of physical expansion of the city happened 901.61 hectares, in the years 1988 to 2000 of which 55.6 percent was based on population growth and 44.4 percent was based on the incrae of land per capita. The area of the heat islands was estimated to be 112.96 hectares, indicating the north-south and east-west trend, which has grown more than 4 times compared to the previous period. The share of population factor in this growth was 62.8 hectares and the share of urban sprawl was 50.16 hectares. The Shannon’s entropy value was 0.3, indicating an unrestricted growth in the considered period. In general, in the 39-year period, a 5 fold increase in the size, a 6.34 fold increase in the population and a 5.7 fold increase in the heat islands area were observed in the Minab city. Since no documentary report has been presented regarding the investigation of heat islands in Minab city, the results of the present research can be used to manage the concentration of the city points.

Urban sprawl or uncontrolled dispersion of built-up areas imposes many economic, social, and environmental issues to cities with a high growth rate. The combination of Remote Sensing and GIS. Technologies with the Shannon Entropy Model can used to identify, quantify and analyze the trends of urban sprawl patterns. In this research, Landsat satellite imagery, spatial analysis of GIS and Shannon entropy used in two levels (for the whole city and within urban areas) in Tabriz city. After geometric and radiometric correction of images and the mapping of urban and non-urban areas in four periods from 1972 to 2013, to calculate the total entropy of each period, the region divided into 58 cells. In addition, to create a spatial pattern map and visualize urban sprawl, the whole city divided into 100 cells with 16 sub-cells, the amount of entropy of 16 cells was calculated, and sprawl spatial pattern obtained by Kriging interpolation method. The results of this study showed that urban sprawl of Tabriz has been approaching the maximum entropy (4.06) from 1972 to 2013 and has caused a two-fold gap between the growth of urban areas and the population. In addition, the spatial pattern of urban sprawl is unbalanced and focuses on the city’s communication axes.

Tehran as the largest city in Iran, is one of the most polluted cities in the world, so necessity of accurate detection of contaminants and identifying contaminated areas for reducing their severity is obvious. The aim of this research was prepared Tehran air pollution map and determining the areas with the highest polluted. For studying air pollution situation in Tehran, after gathering concentration of 5 main Atmospheric pollutants (CO, NOx، SOx، O3، PM25) from 20 air pollutant recorder station, three Interpolation methods in ArcGIS software include: Kriging, radial basis function RBF and inverse distance weighted IWD have been used. In Additon, for comparing methods and selecting the best of them, root- mean- square error RMSE and the correlation coefficient R2 had been used. It determined that in most of parameters IDW had better accuracy for zoning pollution of the area by checking the RMSE values. For achieving results with using mentioned methods, map of air quality limits in the area was ready and by combining five maps and weighing them into each parameter, general pollution map of the area was prepared. Results showed that in Monoxide carbon pollution zoning map, most of the pollution was related to the unhealthy class, in Nitrogen Oxide and Ozone was related to very unhealthy class and in particle matter and sulfur oxide was related to unhealthy class. In final map also most portion was related to unhealthy class. Overlay Masudieh station with 1091 pollution weight had the most pollutants and dangerous weather conditions and Darrus station with 628 pollution weight had better position.

Achieving the balance between the spatial distribution of resources and services in urban areas is one of the main objectives of the government. District 7 in Mashhad with a population of about 220000 people and an area of 5200 hectares is one of the most crowded urban areas of Mashhad. CNG fuel station network is the key component of the network utilities acted as a supplier of fuel for transportation within the city, which is important in terms of traffic considerations, urban development, safety, and the environment. This study aims to locate CNG fuel station in District 7 in Mashhad and also utilizes the methods based on GIS and fuzzy logic. In order to implement fuzzy operators in GIS environment, the effective criteria including access to main thoroughfares, centers with high population density, green space, commercial land use, distance from residential land use, educational land use, and distance from existing stations were all first extracted and entered into the GIS environment. In the next step, the fuzzy membership value for each parameter (fuzzication) was determined. Next, the weighted layers were put together, and finally the most appropriate area was shown on the final map. The results showed that the southern and southeastern areas lacked fuel stations and had priority for the construction of new stations in the area.

The optimal distribution of uses as well as service centers is an issue which urban planners often emphasize, as the rapid growth of population and city expansion has caused an inappropriate spatial distribution of urban uses. Cultural centers are an example of the uses whose distribution and dispersion are important in urban areas in terms of both urban development and social justice. The purpose of this study is to analyze the dispersion of the cultural centers in Saqqez city as well as to locate the new cultural centers according to the shortage in the city. The research method is descriptive-analytical. In order to classify and analyze the data, some models including ANP model and network analysis model, and Moran'sI, Anselin local Moran'sI indicators were used. Furthermore, the softwares ARC /GIS, and Super Decisions were employed to map layers. The results of this study indicates that according to the survey carried out, %41.11 of the city area is out of access to the cultural centers. The findings also reveal that the cultural centers in Saqqez city are inappropriate to other centers in terms of both compatibility and accessibility. Therefore, by integrating the various layers of influential uses, the final map of optimal spaces was suggested in order to build new cultural centers in 5 categories from very good to very weak

Land-use change is a key factor in the development of the human and physical environment. Models of land-use change help understand this intricate system and can provide valuable information on possible future land-use configurations. Therefore, we investigated the changes in land use of Tabriz using satellite images taken in 1989 and 2005.We then modeled how these changes would alter the land uses for 2031 using effective parameters in Tabriz development and land Transformation model. Tabriz sharply in the past decade has faced changes in the urban land use. The results obtained from satellite images for years 1989 and 2005 represent increasingly changes, particularly agricultural land use and green spaces to built areas. With continue this process; Tabriz in the future will face a lot of challenges. The results of modeling of Tabriz in 2031 in this research show that more than 90 percent of the city will be built area and only 10 percent of the city's green spaces will be assigned to the user. Forecasting of Tabriz development in this research show that, the built areas will increase 143 percent and area of agriculture land and green spaces will decrease to 11603 and 1919 hectare respectively. With the development of the city of Tabriz in the coming decades will be encountered with increasingly ecological and environmental problems.

Resource constraints and environmental investments in the electricity sector, including key issues that will affect the process to minimize cost and environmental impact has always been regarded experts. Environmental protection and energy security of the electricity produced by power plants solar power acts emphasized. Iran has a warm climate is semiarid due to the special geographical location and orientation on the radiation belts and desert, The more central parts of the country, especially those are with a clear sky. This increase in sunshine hours and radiation from these regions than in other parts of the world. Therefore study in the construction and deployment of solar sites in the regions of the country can achieve clean energy for residents. This paper uses the capabilities of GIS and models to predict the overall radiation, sunshine hours and the amount of radiant energy receivedin Ardekan township villages. Calculated for each of the months and years, where 7/ 7hours sunny day and average 5/3 solar radiation of more than kilowatt hours per square meter per day were suitable for solar construction sites were identified. And for embedding solar panels priority direction is south and southwest in this place, respectively.

Thus, it could not be called ecotourism the trip and travel in nature, without attention to sustainable development attributes. Because, ecotourism have a deep and strong relation with environment protect. On this basis, determine the accurate spatial extent and location potential of ecotourism, is the one of most important stages in ecotourism planning and management that with considering to ecological index of ecotourism is possible. This issue, especially in geographical territories such as Tehran province, that have a high supply and demand in ecotourism, is necessary. So, the purpose of this study is using of multi criteria decision making analysis, TOPSIS in arc GIS space, to zoning and prioritization the ecotourism potential of Tehran province territory. To achieve this goal, used of descriptive and analytical methodology, based on documents and library studies and combined multi-criteria analysis of spatial data.
