Nowadays, the increasing urban population and the consequent physical expansion of cities have intensified pressure on the environment and reduced the ecological sustainability of urban areas. Therefore, the assessment and preservation of urban ecological resources have become a key concern for city managers, as inadequate planning in this regard can cause irreparable damage to urban communities. In this context, the present study, recognizing the importance of ecological capacity and urban green spaces, seeks to explain the ecological dimensions of Khorramabad city through the use of spatial analysis methods. Accordingly, this research is applied in nature and falls within the descriptive-analytical category in terms of methodology. The data analysis process involved examining land use changes and the spatial distribution of urban green spaces within the study area using ArcGIS 10.2 and ENVI software. Subsequently, ecological suitability of different urban areas within the study boundary was ranked using PROMETHEE and SWARA techniques. The results showed that during the physical expansion of the city from 1990 to 2021, areas covered by vegetation decreased by 33.6%, while built-up areas increased by 318.882%. Additionally, the distribution of urban green land use was found to be clustered and imbalanced, with the highest clustering observed in urban zones 17, 19, 23, and 24. Ultimately, it was identified that urban zone 3, with a score of 0.24, had the most favorable status in terms of green space indicators.Overall, based on the conducted assessments, it was concluded that the ecological evolution path of Khorramabad city over recent decades has been uneven a.
