This study aimed to examine the relationship between social responsibility and environmental protection with an emphasis on the mediating role of environmental attitude among employees of District 3 Municipality of Shiraz. The research employed a descriptive–correlational design, and data were collected using a questionnaire. The statistical population consisted of 200 employees of Shiraz Municipality District 3. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software and appropriate statistical methods. The findings indicated a significant and positive relationship between social responsibility and environmental protection (r = 0.65, p < 0.01). Furthermore, the results of the mediation analysis revealed that environmental attitude plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between social responsibility and protective environmental behaviors (β = 0.45, p < 0.01). In addition, 73% of employees with more positive attitudes toward social responsibility demonstrated more effective environmental protective behaviors. The results suggest that strengthening social responsibility within organizations can serve as an effective strategy for promoting sustainable development and environmental protection. Therefore, it is recommended that municipal managers and organizations place greater emphasis on educational programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing environmental awareness among employees.
